livepoll.io is operated from Texas, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. We believe in plain English — no legalese, no surprises.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: Email address and a hashed password when you create a presenter account. We never store your password in plain text.
- Session content: Questions, poll titles, and presenter notes you create are stored and associated with your account.
- Participant responses: Answers submitted in your polls are attributed to an anonymous session ID — not to any personal identity.
Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics: We use Plausible Analytics — a privacy-first tool that collects no personal data and sets no cookies.
- Error monitoring: We use Sentry to capture application errors. Reports include browser type, OS, and error URL. No personally identifiable information is included.
Participants (People Who Join Your Polls)
Participants do not need to create an account. They may optionally provide a display name. No email or personal information is required or collected. Participant responses are tied to an anonymous session ID that expires when the session ends.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and operate the livepoll.io service
- To send transactional emails (password resets, account confirmations)
- To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns
- To diagnose and fix technical errors
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data to serve targeted ads. We do not share your data with third parties except as described in this policy.
Advertising
livepoll.io displays non-personalized ads on two pages only: the session join page and the public results share page. Presenters never see ads — not during a live session, not anywhere in the presenter interface. Ads are served by Google AdSense and/or Carbon Ads. Ad networks may use cookies on those pages. We do not use your personal data to target ads.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored in Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access is restricted to authenticated users only.
Data Retention
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Session and response data: Retained until you delete individual sessions from your dashboard.
- Error logs: Retained for 30 days by Sentry.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, delete, export, or correct your data. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@livepoll.io.
