Go to livepoll.io and sign up — just email and password, no credit card. You'll land on your dashboard instantly. If you already have an account, sign in and you'll be taken to your dashboard.

From your dashboard, click the orange "New session" button in the top right. First-time users will see an empty state with a "Create first session →" button — both go to the same place.

You'll land on a 3-option picker: Start from scratch (blank session — add questions your way), Use a template (9 expert-built templates for education, business, and events — recommended for first-timers), or Build with livepoll AI (describe your session in plain English and Claude generates perfect questions instantly).

After choosing, you land in the presenter view. Your session has a unique 6-digit code and is in "Waiting" status — not live yet. This is your control room: add questions, reorder them, edit everything before going live.

Choose from 13+ question types — multiple choice, word cloud, quiz, ranking, image choice, and more. Add as many questions as you want. No limits. Reorder them by dragging. Add presenter notes to any question for your own reference.

Hit "Go Live" when you're ready. Your session status changes to LIVE. Share the 6-digit code or QR code with your audience — they join instantly from any device, no app or account needed.

Advance through questions one at a time using the Next button or arrow keys. You control the pace. Participants always see whichever question you're currently on.

Responses appear live as participants answer. Toggle results visibility on or off per question — reveal when you're ready. See live participant count, confusion signals, and emoji reactions as they come in.

When you're done, click "End Session". The session closes — no more responses accepted. You'll see a full summary of your results.

Every ended session gets a permanent public results link — livepoll.io/results/[code]. Share it with participants, post it in a chat, or keep it for your records.

From the results page or presenter view, click "📋 Async link" to generate a follow-up survey link. Anyone with the link can answer your questions on their own time. Responses are tracked separately from the live session.

Download results as CSV (raw data) or PDF (formatted summary) from the results page anytime. Both are free with no limits.
